The Best Tablets for Less Than 300 Euros
Even after all these years Apple’s iPad remains the star in the tablet segment. However, the price point of entry has been lowered substantially over the years, among others thanks to the competition introduced by East Asian OEMs. Granted, the best tablets (see our other Top 10 lists) are still priced at $400 or above. However, there are quite a few exciting entry-level tablets perfectly capable of satisfying average users.

Editors' Comments
While our tablet charts mainly feature high-priced devices from Apple and Samsung, the field of entry-level tablets is more diverse. We find exotics from the Far East as well as inexpensive devices from well-known brands. The available sizes are dominated by two types: Around 8-inches and around 10-inches, respectively. Since the tablet market continues to shrink, we will not update this list of best devices on a monthly basis, but on a quarterly basis.
1st – Xiaomi Pad 6
The Xiaomi Pad 6 offers a 144 Hz 2.8K IPS display, a fast Snapdragon 870 5G SoC, good speakers and a long battery life of almost 14 hours. It has a high-quality finish and offers HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. Like the Huawei MatePad 11, it also supports stylus input, which is available separately.
Our 1st place of the best tablets up to 300 euros offers a lot, but there is no LTE version and the memory cannot be expanded.
Unfortunately, there is no IP certification, for example against splash water. We also miss a jack connection and a microSD card reader for memory expansion. LTE is only available on the Pad 5 Pro, which can also be charged faster.
At the time of writing, the Xiaomi Pad 6 is listed on Amazon US for $349.

2nd - Honor Pad 9
The Honor Pad 9 has a total of eight speakers, a 12.1-inch QHD IPS display with 120 Hz, a brightness of up to 600 cd/m² and supports pen input. A Bluetooth Smart Keyboard is also available for 60 euros. The Snapdragon 6 G1 offers mid-range performance, while the battery life is a good 11 hours.
The Honor Pad 9 has a robust metal casing, but lacks IP certification, a 5G option, WiFi 6 or a fingerprint sensor.
Currently, the device is not yet available in North America.

3rd – Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+
The new Galaxy Tab A9+ from Samsung leaves nothing to be desired: Finally there is a 90Hz refresh rate on the 11-inch FHD IPS display, optional 5G and, for the first time, Samsung DeX. Updates are also guaranteed for 4 years, while the rather nimble Snapdragon 695 replaces the Unisoc T618 of the predecessor Galaxy Tab A8.
The basic version now comes with 64 GB of memory and 4 GB of RAM. It can be expanded with up to 1 TB via microSD card, which cannot be formatted as internal memory. A robust aluminum housing is also used. Four speakers provide a decent sound, while the battery lasts for almost 15 1/2 hours.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ offers almost everything important at a low price: a bright 90Hz display, DeX, optional 5G and solid performance. There are shortcomings in the details.
The disadvantages include slow charging at 15W, while the power adapter is not included. There is also no fingerprint sensor.
Users can order the Samsung's tablet via online retailers like Amazon.

4th – Samsung Galaxy Tab A9
In contrast to the larger Tab A9+, the 8.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 still only offers 60 Hz and optional 4G, while the resolution of the bright display is also lower at 1,340 x 800 pixels. The fairly fast Mediatek SoC Helios G99 is used, supported by 4 GB RAM and 64 GB memory in the basic configuration. The battery life of up to 19 hours and the 4-year update coverage were also impressive.
If you prefer a more compact tablet, you can now get started with the 8.7-inch Galaxy Tab A9 from Samsung at an affordable price. However, a power supply unit must be purchased separately and there is no fingerprint reader.
At the time of writing, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 is listed for just under $160 on Amazon US.

5th – Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE
The Xiaomi Redmi Pad SE is the successor to the Redmi Pad, which continues to rely on a robust aluminum housing and has a very long battery life of around 17 hours. The screen diagonal has grown from 10.6 inches to 11 inches, but the pixel density has decreased from 220 ppi to 206 ppi. The jack socket is new.
However, the Snapdragon 680 4G is up to 30 % slower than the Helios G99 in the Redmi Pad, especially in single-core applications.
With the Redmi Pad SE, Xiaomi offers an affordable mid-range tablet with great quad-speakers that does not have satellite positioning or a fingerprint reader.
The 90 Hz FHD+ IPS display has become 50 cd/m² brighter at 450 cd/m² and still offers around 93 % sRGB.
At the time of writing, interested users can purchase the Redmi Pad SE via Amazon US with prices starting at $185.

6th – Amazon Fire Max 11
Amazon's largest Fire tablet to date also has a larger battery and a much faster mid-range SoC from MediaTek. The 11-inch IPS display of the Fire Max 11 has a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels in 5:3 format and refreshes at 60 Hz.
It also comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB flash memory. The back cover of the 7.5 mm thin tablet is made of aluminum and therefore feels more robust than the previous Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus model, while the display edges have even become narrower.
Fire OS 8.3 is set to receive updates until at least 2027, but the disadvantage is the lack of the Google Play Store, which can be installed later. But be careful: this voids the 1-year manufacturer's warranty. Thanks to DRM Widevine L1, video streaming services can also be enjoyed in HD quality. The optionally available docking keyboard and the option to use a stylus are also beneficial.
Amazon's new Fire Max 11 is significantly faster, lasts a very long 16.5 hours, is flatter, more stable and has a larger and brighter display than its predecessor.
GPS is not included, charging with the included 9 W power adapter takes a long time and the range of apps is limited ex works. The Fire Max 11 can currently be purchased directly from Amazon for 270 euros, with advertising and without a keyboard or stylus. Notebooksbilliger currently offers the Android tablet at the same price.
The tablet of Amazon can be ordered here.

7th – Teclast T50 Pro
The Teclast T50 Pro is an interesting 11-inch tablet, as it offers a lot of memory with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB RAM, which can also be expanded via its exceptionally fast microSD card reader. However, the 2K 60 Hz display remains relatively dark at 340 cd/m² and has a blue tint, while the metal casing is too easy to twist.
For a small budget, the Teclast 50 Pro offers a fast Helio G99 SoC for the price range with low heat dissipation, a very long battery life of 17.5 hours, pure Android and LTE.
Its weaknesses also include the cameras and the lack of Widevine certification (no HD streaming services).

8th – Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2
Unlike its predecessors, the P11 5G and P11 Plus, the second generation of Lenovo's tablet features a 120 Hz display with a large 11.5-inch diagonal. Pen input and a keyboard cover are also supported, while the battery life of over 14.5 hours is a pleasure to use.
The Lenovo P11 Gen 2 offers a lot, the display is particularly colorful, but the case has minor weaknesses, the cameras are mediocre at best, just like the SoC.
In the US, the tablet can be ordered through some common retailers, Amazon for example.

9th – Oukitel OT8
The Oukitel OT8 offers plenty of space with 256 GB memory and 6 GB RAM. However, the performance of the Unisoc T606 is a disadvantage. Despite the metal frame, the casing is not optimally stable, but is okay for the price range.
The FHD+ display refreshes at 60 Hz and is not quite as bright at 375 cd/m². A stylus is included in the scope of delivery, but it works passively. The four-speaker system and the battery life of over 18 hours are quite decent.
At 508 g, the Oukitel OT8 is not exactly lightweight and the performance is not optimal. On the other hand, you get LTE, good speakers and plenty of memory at a reasonable price.
The Oukitel OT8 can be purchased directly from the manufacturer for just under 160 euros (around $175).

10th – Cubot Tab 50
With 8 GB RAM and 256 GB flash, the Cubot Tab 50 offers plenty of storage capacity in its price range. The built-in Helio G99 also belongs to the fast mid-range. The robust metal casing, long battery life of 14 hours, LTE and pure Android 13 are also positive features. However, security updates are irregular.
The 10.4-inch display is the Cubot Tab 50's weak point: 2K resolution, 60 Hz, 290 cd/m² and a pronounced blue tint. In terms of pure performance, the Chinese tablet is impressive.
There is further criticism for the poor cameras, the lack of eSIM functionality and the absence of biometric unlocking. The four speakers sound loud, but there is a lack of bass.
The Cubot Tab 50 is available on Amazon for around $260.
